The Longest Day......

“Tri Together” An Ironman Relay For Alzheimer’s

Saturday June 21, 2014

Background
As some of you know, I first realized my mother, Linda Sue Saxton, had Alzheimer's disease in 1998, the day after Thanksgiving, on what felt like the longest day of my life. My mother was just 54 years old.

Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease that impairs cognitive function and exhibits symptoms of dementia and memory loss. Although widely diagnosed, there still remains no cure or definitive cause.
It’s been said that living with Alzheimer’s can make every day feel like the longest day.

For this reason, The Alzheimer’s Association has issued us all a challenge: be in motion for the entire 16 hours of daylight to honour those facing Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers.

June 22, 2013, I took up this challenge and committed to doing a solo Ironman Triathlon. This was such a huge success. Team Fitness Success raised $17,000 for Alzheimer's. This would not have been possible without all of you!!

The idea “Tri-Together... an Ironman Relay” sprang from last year’s huge success.

“Tri Together” allows participant’s to pick their events and distances (either on a relay team or as an individual) to be in motion for some part of the 16 hour summer solstice. The intention being more people moving, more fun and more money raised for an amazing cause ☺ !
